The birthday party just continued into Saturday! Laura had cream cheese pie for breakfast...um yes! Why not?? And then Laura wanted to do something super fun for her birthday, so we headed to Silver Mountain Ski Resort for 2 hours of sheer tubbing fun!!! When I say 2 hours of sheer fun, I mean 2 hours of sheer fun...no strenuous hiking back up the hill...oh no, just slide after slide after slide...there were 4 lanes of sledding that had hay at the bottom to slow you down and help you stop, and then a magic carpet that brought you back up to the top.
Silver Mountain is located on the top of the mountain, so you have to ride a Gondola to get to the lodge and then to the ski lifts and tubbing hills. So part of our tubbing tickets included a Gandola ride up the mountain (which was a huge treat in and of itself) !! We might have had a little too fun on the ride up...nahhh...
The big kids loved the adventure from the get go... the 2 littles.. well, at first, Erica wasn't sure about the whole sledding thing- but we quickly found out it was just the spray of snow in her face that she didn't like... So as soon as we rectified that problem.. (Erica would just put her hand in front of her face as she flew down the hill) she loved it!! Detric was a little hesitant, but after one or two slides down the hill he was sledding forward, backward and sidewards just like the rest of the crew!! After our 2 hours were up no one wanted to leave!
It's hard finding an activity that entertains EVERYONE... and we just did. Successful Birthday party for Laura... lets make it a tradition!!
The views were gorgeous up on the mountain and there wasn't any wind - so the weather was absolutely perfect. Ok..the only part of the afternoon that wasn't perfect, was when the 2 little's had to use the bathroom, so Laura took them as fast and she could and apparently while she was gone, Becky held their tubes for them and got chewed out by some unclassy adults who accused her of hording the tubes and unwilling to share and demand ed her tubes...shesh. Some people have no taste. Can't we be cordial, nice, and talk to each other like grownups? Apparently not...poor Becky stood her ground, but the people were ruthless. But, aside from that episode - it was a fantastic afternoon! Sorry Becky... it was a nearly perfect day!
