The whole time Laura was in Vancouver for Grayson's baptism, she checked the weather in Liberty Lake, Tri-Cities, Vancouver, and every city in between here and there that she could think of...The Dalles, Johns Day, etc. (a little paranoid?? yep!) Everything looked good until Sunday... Sunday afternoon Liberty Lake was calling for snow....yikes. Well, Laura has a true testimony of prayer... so she prayed the weather would be clear for their drive home. Then, she asked a few friends and family members (who know of Laura's paranoia of snow... to also pray for the weather to hold and not snow until we got home). Knowing that holding the snow (which was forecasted to start in the morning, but not start really accumulating until afternoon) was a lot to ask, but she asked anyway with the caveat that if you can't hold the snow, then please let us get home safe and help Laura to be calm and confident to drive home through the weather. This was her plea. She felt that they really needed to go to the baptism and prayed that Heavenly Father would bless them for their efforts and love. Well, we had such a neat experience... Sunday morning snow continued to be forecasted in Liberty Lake and by this point snow was also forecasted in Vancouver late Sunday night too... So, we went to sacrament meeting and then immediately headed out, not even taking time to change clothes (kids weren't too thrilled about that, but oh well, they survived!) Laura was adamant that we drive home in daylight. When we headed out it was pretty clear in Vancouver - a little rain, but not bad, as we went through the gorge it was clear, as we got to Tri Cities it was clear, when we hit Ritzville (50 miles from home) we got FOG, but no precipitation, then when we got to Spokane, clouds, but again no precipitation... Liberty Lake.. still no precipitation. When we pulled into our driveway...literally as we stopped the car, Laura looked at the windshield and there came the first few drops of precipitation - snow. Heavenly Father had truly answered our prayers. The snow didn't start until we literally pulled into our driveway! The kids started screaming.... "it's snowing...its snowing..Mom it's snowing, and it started the minute we got home!" It was such a testimony builder to our whole family. We learned that prayer is real, that Heavenly Father is listening- he cares about us, our fears, and our family. We all went inside, talked about what had happened and said a prayer of gratitude for keeping us safe, but also for letting us witness such an incredible sign from Heaven. Such a great day. Within just a few minutes of being home...the ground was already covered in snow. The heavens literally held the snow for us.
