First day back to school after winter break...but the kids aren't in school, they are on the mountain...hmm?? We have been trying to schedule a day to go skiing as a family and with work schedules and this and that, we could never make it happen...but when Clay had the 1st day back to school day off - we debated on the situation and said... OFF TO THE SLOPES!!! Kids all played hookie and added an extra day onto their winter vacation! We went back to one of our favorite hills... Lookout Pass. All the kids were excited even little Erica!! She was a trooper and loved tackling the bunny slope. She was doing awesome with Dad, so we thought...lets go up the big hill. Laura had found a little harness that worked great!! Detric, Aparri, Preston, and CJ were experts and cruising down the hills. After a great morning of skiing, everyone's confidence was up and doing awesome...and then after lunch...oh after lunch. Clay took the big kids off to do the big hill and Laura thought she could handle Erica on the bunny hill...oh, I think not..she had problems... her skies would get packed with snow and stop sliding so they would literally stop in her tracks and knock Erica down every time. After a great morning and doing awesome with Dad...Erica was getting frustrated and would say, "Stop knocking me down Mom!" She was ready to go down the hill alone - Laura was holding her back, but Laura didn't have the heart to let go of her 2 year old and say..."good luck...meet ya at the bottom" even though the way things were going she probably would have done a lot better without Laura. After an hour of agony...Erica stopped and said, "I want Dad". I don't blame that poor girl. So we just sat at the bottom of the hill freezing waiting for Dad so she could ski...and poor thing fell asleep crying to "ski more...ski more" before Dad made it back to take her. Next year...always next year. And we will have to figure out Laura's ski problem..shesh. Both those girls were frustrated and DONE by the end of the day. Clay & Laura were just glad that at the end of the day All in all everybody else was happy, and not wearing a cast. So we called it a WIN! Kids were thoroughly worn out which led to a very ‘peaceful’ ride home in the truck.
Due to faulty equipment, Laura found herself the most comfortable on the chair lift taking selfies with the kids on this trip!!! She was having difficulties with her skies today so she spent a good part of the afternoon dragging poor Erica down the bunny hill....or was Erica dragging her? Then, the camera got too cold and stopped working so she couldn't even take pictures by the afternoon!!! Oh such troubles!
