When all you've got is Friday night to go camping, it's not ideal, but you take it! We all worked hard and got all packed up, Clay got off work early, and we hit the road in search of a good camping spot for the night... Since we got an early start we were hopefully optimistic that we could get camp set up before it got dark, be able to explore, and have a fun evening together. Well... as things usually do... things didn't go exactly according to plans. We didn't have a definitive plan as to WHERE we were going to camp for the night. We like secluded areas that are not highly populated camp spots...so we had looked up a few possible places on a map, asked a few friends about recommendations...and hit the road. Well, after 3 hours of driving and still not at a camp spot... the troops and parents were getting restless... all the areas we had looked at were either on the edge of a cliff, on the side of the road, or too dense of trees, and therefore not camp worthy. As the sun started to go down, we started to get discouraged So as the sun started to set, we made a plan to head to a camp area called "Bumblebee" that came recommended by a friend...well, when we got there it was full. Oh no, now what? Well, we found a little camping area off the road and plopped in a grassy area between 2 camp spots where the people where very nice and generous and allowed us to invade the area. So instead of setting up camp, eating dinner, and exploring the area in the early afternoon, we found ourselves squished in a field, setting up camp in the dark, and eating by the light of the moon! But, the next morning was so worth it. We spent the whole day exploring, riding motorcycles, splashing in the river, hiking, being silly and most importantly being together as a family! Camping for just 1 night...is it worth it? Absolutely!!! We found an amazing spot that we can't wait to come back to, and now we know where it is - we should be able to get there in 30 minutes instead of 3 hours!
